Classroom Organisation

Drinks, snack and lunch

•Please provide your child with a clearly named water bottle (no fizzy drinks please).

•Presently, your child can choose to have a school packed lunch or you can provide them with a home packed lunch (please clearly label your child’s lunch box)

•Please note that dinner staff will encourage your child to eat what has been packed for them and any leftovers will stay in their lunch box so that you can see how much your child has eaten.

•Top tip: If you are noticing that there is a lot left over it may be that your child is not as hungry at that point in the day. Around three items are usually a good amount for this age group (depending on appetite).

In line with our school policy, please ensure that chocolate bars, sweets and fizzy drinks are not brought into school. Due to the choking hazard, grapes should also be cut vertically, and cherries must have the stone removed.

We have children in school with some severe allergies. Therefore, we are nut-free school. Please ensure that sandwiches do not include peanut butter or Nutella.

In the afternoon we will provide your child with a healthy snack.

Physical education

PE will take place on a Tuesday. Please send your child into school dressed in their PE kit. Please ensure that any jewellery is removed (including earrings) and that they are dressed for the weather as our PE sessions will be taking place outside.

Positive learning behaviours

Your child has been assigned to

a house…

St. Thomas More (purple house)

St. Anne Line   (white house)

St. Paul (blue house)

St. Bernadette (yellow house)

St. Theresa (red house)

St. Francis (green house)

Positive learning behaviours are rewarded with house points. The house with the most points each week is awarded the house cup which is shared in our celebration assembly and here on the school website.

Children can also be individually awarded with the star of the week certificate.

Tapestry

We use a secure online learning journal called Tapestry. Each child’s online journal will be made up of observations and photographs of your child learning. Parents and Carers can access the online journal at any time using their own password. We encourage parental contribution to journals where you can comment on observations that we have posted, like them or add your own observations of your child. We share a selection of these with the class and it’s a great opportunity for your child to stand up in front of the class and proudly share what they have been doing outside of school.

Your child may receive a ‘next step’ on an observation. The expectation is that you will work on this next step at home and inform us of how your child is finding it.

If you have any trouble accessing Tapestry please inform us as soon as possible as all our home learning will be set and tracked via your child’s journal.
