Welcome to Reception

We are really excited for the year ahead. Below is some key information that you might need to refer to as the year progresses. Please feel free to talk to us at the end of the school day if you have any other questions or queries, or call the office if you wish to book an appointment to see us.

Our PE lesson will be on a Thursday. Children are expected to have full PE kits, which has their names on, on these days. Please encourage your child to dress as much of they can independently at home as this is great practice for changing at school. Earrings must be taken out before PE lessons, either by the parent or the child- staff are not permitted to do this.

It is expected that children are heard to read at home daily and that this is recorded in their Home Learning Diary. Books will be changed during the school week, your child's day to change their books will be written on the front of their Home Learning Diary.

Children visit our school library weekly. This will usually be on a Wednesday.

Word pots

Each child has their own word pot that contains 'tricky' words. These are words that cannot be sounded out phonetically. Please take time to help your child learn this at home. Children's recognition of words will be checked weekly at school and new words added as they become secure.

Children are provided with a healthy snack during our morning session.

Home Learning

Our Home learning activities this half term reflect our topic and will be in your child's Home Learning Log given out on a Wednesday, to be handed in the following Monday. This activity can be completed in their Home Learning Log or alternatively uploaded to your child's Tapestry account.
