Through God’s love we learn together, grow together and achieve together.

Autumn 1: Home is where the heart is.

It has been really lovely getting to know the children over the last few weeks. I am so proud of how well they have all settled into Year One and how amazing their attitude to learning is. We have been so busy in our topic this week as we have started learning about the United Kingdom; the children found learning about England and London very interesting especially when they saw pictures of places they recognise. We have also been doing lots of art work over the last few weeks such as making a lighthouse painting using vegetables, creating a sunrise/sunset picture and an Autumn scene using broccoli.

I have already seen some wonderful pieces of home learning and the children have loved talking and sharing what they have done.

We have had a brilliant week this week in Year 1. The children have loved retelling the story of the Little Red Hen and have written some fantastic stories. Please check some out on our celebrating learning page. We have been learning and developing our ball skills in PE and finished the week with some fun team games. I am so pleased to see the children improving with their spellings each week. Please see further down at some ideas at how to make spellings a little more fun!

What a great week we have had! This week we have been learning more about weather and all the different pieces of equipment that is needed to measure the different kinds of weather. We have finished off our L S Lowry collage pictures which the children seemed very excited by. This week the children have reached their first line in their marble jar and so were rewarded with a treat. The children were able to play in Reception and finally get to use the climbing equipment which they were not able to use last year sadly due to Covid.
