Year 5- Marie Curie
We explored the life and work of Marie Curie and the importance of her findings in supporting further scientific discoveries that had a great impact on improving the quality of human life (she championed the use of radiation in medicine and fundamentally changed our understanding of radioactivity; also, during World War I she developed mobile radiography units to provide X-ray services to field hospitals). All these started with a childhood dream, as we found out by reading the story of Marie Curie from the Little People, Big Dreams series. Following her example, we conducted our own experiment about Greenhouse gases. After exploring 'their story', we enjoyed creating our own edible Greenhouse gas models.
