Through God’s love we learn together, grow together and achieve together.

Year 6 Teacher - Mr Mortimer

Other adults in class - Mrs Duffy, Miss Garcia

We have adopted the Creative Curriculum model throughout St Alban's and this is no different in Year 6. Our class have many different topics which we use as a vehicle to teach Art, ICT, SPaG, Reading, Writing and Literacy Skills.

The children have enjoyed learning about our topics and have progressed a lot since coming into the class in September. Through our use of the Creative Curriculum and the rotation of topics we teach a broad and balanced curriculum. We really enjoyed learning about "The World at War!" now we are looking into "Natural Disasters".

Please ensure that your child reads daily.  They should be reading a variety of fiction and non-fiction books.  It is important that they read to an adult/older sibling as often as possible.  Please ask your child questions about what they have read and encourage them to give opinions about the book.

This term your child will bring home a list of Year 5 and 6 spelling words.  Each week your child will be tested on 10 random words from the list.  Encourage your child to practise these words as often as possible.

Year 6 P.E lessons are on Monday (with Mr Prentice) and Tuesday (Burnt Mill Swimming).  Please ensure your child has their correct kit with them on these days.  All items should be clearly labelled.

Walking home

If your child has permission to walk home on their own at the end of the school day it is essential that you provide written consent, which should be handed directly to the class teacher.  Children without written consent will not be given permission to walk home on their own.

This term our topic is Natural Disasters.  Remember to save any newspaper articles related to this topic!!
