Through God’s love we learn together, grow together and achieve together.

This term our home will focus on phonics and reading.

Reading:

To begin with we will be sending a picture book home for children to look at and talk about with their family. This is to promote vocabulary and encourage creative story telling. Please talk about what is happening in the pictures, suggest what the characters might be saying and what might happen next. Remember to ask plenty of questions as you read with your child to help develop comprehension. You can also visit Oxford Owl for further reading advice.

Once the children begin learning their sounds in Stage 1+, they will start to bring home worded books. You can look at our 'Phonics and Reading' tab for SWAY that provides further guidance on how Floppy's phonics works at our school.
Please read with your child every night.

We also have a portable library outside the classroom that you can access before and after school. Please choose a book and sign it out with the date and title. Please remember to tick the sheet to say that you have returned the book before you borrow the next one.

Phonics:

Once we start Floppys' phonics the children will receive a wallet with three sounds that they will learn each week. Please work on these sounds with your child and look for things that begin with that sound. You will also receive a Floppy's phonic passport which includes all the sounds your child will learn and some key words.

Please check Tapesty for the specific sounds we are working on each week.
